The next step in my brand development was to create various mockups of my brand’s application.

Bank Card:

I decided to first make a bank card, as this is the most obvious item related to a bank.

After careful consideration, I created a pattern using my wordmark reflecting a turtle’s shell across the middle leaving the top and bottom area clear to leave space for the bank name and card details. To make the pattern, I duplicated one semicircle to create a line, and then duplicated the line, and made sure they didn’t line up correctly. My vision was to look like an illusion of turtle shell’s making it intriguing to the viewer. Some of the pattern appears cut off, to show it’s infinite.

I chose to use a simplistic pattern that was closely related to my brand, that also allowed to be visually appealing to my target audience. Most bank cards are mostly one colour or a gradient, and don’t allow for flair and modernity. This pattern reinforces how a turtle’s shell symbolises security and protection, giving the user peace of mind knowing their money is in safe hands. The darker green contrasts well against the lighter green against the mint green background, it’s minimal but still attracts your eye. I think the colour reversed the pattern will become too powerful and get lost in the background.

Overall, I am happy with this outcome the implementing the pattern is very effective compared to using a solid colour.

Signage:

The next mockup I made is a bank sign for outside the shopfront. I tried out a circular sign, as I thought it would work well for my brand but I found it hard to get it properly sized and centred since my wordmark is rounded.

I opted for a more square sign as the wordmark fitted perfectly inside the shape, and the black outline helps it to be recognisable from a distance. The positioning of my wordmark, how the legs and head of the turtle point in the direction of the bank allows for the consumers to know where the entrance of the bank is.

I am satisfied with how my brand identity is coming along, the mockup is helping me visualise the professional side of branding through application.

Business Card:

I decided to go for a curved edge with a semicircular top business card, as my lecturer suggested doing a wallet shaped like this but I was unable to find any ones in particular that resembled this. This type of business card sets apart from rival banks and is vibrant to catch your attention.

I chose to break the card into two parts to emphasise how the wordmark is incorporated into the overall shape of the card. Also, if you were to put this card into your wallet, it would be easily known against other business card because the top of it would jut out from the rest. I kept the back of the card free from information, and only included the name to be distinguishable when you pick it up.
