I wanted to familiarise myself with already existing smart home devices, to give me an idea of what product I could develop.
It’s smart thermostat that connects to your Wi-Fi. Compared to other programmable thermostats in its ease of use and ability to program itself.
The Nest will keep the temperatures in your home consistent, making it more comfortable when you're there and saving you money when you're not.
My first impression is the simplistic design making in easy to control the temperature of your house. The display is big making it easy to see the numbers.
I like how the background is orange for heat and blue for cold being able to distinguish between each. Although, I think the lines on the outer circle are very thin and blend into the background.
Ring Video Doorbells have a built-in camera that allows you to see a live video feed of what’s happening at your front door at any given moment. The doorbell’s sensors can also alert you when motion is detected at your front door, and with the Ring app, you can adjust Motion Zones and its sensitivity to your liking.
The overall design is minimal and resembles an original doorbell. The blue ring highlights where the user has to press to ring. The camera is discreet meaning the person standing there doesn’t feel intimidated they’re being recorded.
Also, it’s good for if someone is at the door but shouldn’t be alerting the homeowner. The app is handy so when you’re away from home gives you peace of mind being able to check if anyone is at your door.
Arlo Secure lets you monitor your entire home and take immediate action right from your phone's lock screen. Get notifications on your smart device that show whether a person, package, animal, or vehicle has been detected at your home.
I like how small and compact the cameras are, also they’re wireless meaning no need to worry about having plugs nearby to install.
The app allows you to monitor a live feed from any of the cameras, whether you’re at home or not. It’s good how you can schedule for when to come on and off based on your location.
