Brief UxD304.docx

At the start, I found it hard to engage with the topic imaging a smart home of the future, because I didn’t have a clear understanding of what that really meant. It was challenging to picture what a futuristic smart home could look like or include, especially when the concept felt so broad and abstract. This made it difficult to write the brief, as I wasn’t sure how to narrow down my ideas or even where to begin. I struggled to organise my thoughts and explain them clearly when I didn’t fully grasp the direction I wanted to take.

Although, once I started doing more research and exploring different possibilities within the topic, things began to click. I eventually found a specific area that I was interested in, which gave me a clearer vision for the project. From that point on, it became much easier to understand what I was designing and why. Having a focused concept helped guide my decisions and made me feel more confident as I worked through each stage. I could finally imagine the outcome, which gave the project more structure and meaning.

This was my first time writing a design brief, and I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished. I managed to clearly communicate my ideas and stick to the timeline I created. What felt overwhelming at the beginning, completing a full outcome in twelve weeks, now feels like a major achievement. Looking back, I’m really pleased with how far I’ve come, and how the project has developed from uncertainty at the start.
