<aside> 💡 The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)- is a document that acts like a world wide map for freedom and equality, that protects the rights of every individual everywhere.

The human right I’ve chosen for this project is Article 24: everyone has the right to rest and leisure, including reasonable limitation of working hours and periodic holidays with pay.

The reason I chose this right is because as a student when I first got a part time job, for the first year I wasn’t getting the correct breaks for the hours worked and not getting paid fully for holidays.

I want to create a poster that reflects my feeling towards how important this right is, and make people aware that’s illegal if this right is not adhered to.

Firstly, I’m gonna research a few Graphic Designers such as Josef Muller Brockmann, Wim Crouwel, Theo Van Doesburg and Laszo Moholy Nagy who we’ve touched on during a lecture in my other module.

I like how his work based on the Swiss style, it looks very aesthetic pleasing to the eye. His use of a simplistic approach is very effective, using geometric shapes, and including blocks of colour, make it stand out from the page. I find how his compositions based on grids help to align everything perfectly especially the type.

I love how he uses uses primary colours against black or white, it helps to enhance the vividness of these colours contrasting behind a light or dark background. I can see the evidence of the Fibonacci sequence used in the second image, it creates a unique shape with the different sizes of planes, leaves areas of negative space, which help to draw your eyes to the type.

I noticed how his work is asymmetrical, which works really well, even though they’re not balanced it adds individuality to his work, stands out from the crowd.
