Initial Markup:

First, I had to make a Github repository and started to markup the piece of text we were given “Women in Design”.

Typefaces:

We were told to use Google Fonts, to pick typefaces. I chose Merriweather for headings and the nav bar, and Opens Sans for the body text. Also, we used Type Scale to make sure there was a typography hierarchy visible.

Merriweather:

I chose Merriweather because of its legibility and how it has strong Serifs and its condensed letterforms. The style of this font corresponds with my design for this text.

Open Sans:

I used Opens Sans because of its clear and concise format that’s easy to tell apart from the headers and nav. I chose the Italic weights for block quotes, to enhance them and make it stand out.

Images:

We had to use UnSplash to pick images for our design. I cropped around some of the photos because they were too wide for the measurements of the frame.
