I decided to do some research into the Titanic Quarter, and I came across this interesting website.
Below, summarises the different projects on the “Maritime Mile. It’s split into 4 main categories Live, work, visit and stay. It’s good to see the area is involving be staying sustainable in the coming years.
The main ideas for the future are listed below. In particular I am drawn to smart travel. I agree that reducing vehicle transport by minimum of 35% by 2035, will allow for accessible and sustainable transport system that means in time decreasing traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions.
Another important idea is protecting heritage, preserving and promoting Belfast’s maritime. Their goal is to repurpose listed buildings and heritage assets, which ensures the memory of the RMS Titanic legacy lives on.
I think it’s good that the Titanic Museum attracts visitors from all over the world increasing economic growth in Belfast.
It’s great to read about “The Loft Lines,” this is something that is needed around Belfast City Centre affordable social homes. I really like their moto where “lifestyle is scaled up,”
I appreciate how this project is people driven, they mention how instead of having private landlords.
There’ll be only one and the management team will be on site, when you need anything someone will be there to help.
The concept of showing “day in the life” is very considerate as it considers different types of potential residents that could live in these apartments. The scenario of selecting certain times throughout the day, creating a good picture of what it would be like to live in this area.
Many popular TV shows were filmed at Titanic studios, giving Northern Ireland a recognition in this industry. Also, I think it gives work to actors who are trying to find work local without having to move to England or else where.
It’s good that the Titanic Hotel was built on the grounds of the old Harold & Wolf drawing offices, gives the area a new lease of life. I admire the design reflects on the H&W with a modern design and craftsmanship. As well, it’s intriguing how there’s a collection of artworks and photos for the guests to look at giving them an unique experience staying in this hotel.
