My initial idea was the concept of a smartwatch that scans a menu in a restaurant, where it would flag allergens within certain food items. Displaying foods that are safe to eat instead. They would be an option to save certain allergies for later, convenient for people suffering with having to eat certain dietary conditions. Giving the user a positive experience not having to worry when going to a restaurant, eating something that’s not safe for them to eat.
After researching different smartwatch apps that are needed more. I came up the idea, to create an interface which reassured parents when their child was sleeping giving them peace of mind knowing it would alert them if their levels got too low.
This would be targeted for children from the ages 4-11, as these ages the children have some understanding of their condition but still would need monitoring from their parents until they’re a bit older.
The app would connect to a small device fitted on the child to record their blood oxygen levels. Some of the breathing conditions, it would be useful for is COPD, sleep apnoea, CF and asthma.
The smartwatch app would be more convenient as during the night the parents could be easily alerted through a notification vibrating on their wrist. It would be easier to recognise because of the red alert signal displayed on the screen.
The device fitted on the child measures their blood oxygen levels throughout the day/night, and shows real time readings on the app. Parents can view them all on the app for 24 hrs, highlighting the maximum and minimum levels.
