Summary:

Studio Etiquette:

Our lecturer gave us some valuable information on studio practice, that will be useful to know for next year during placement.

Most of the points were common sense, but it was interesting to hear about meetings as this is something I’d be worried about during my placement year.

He mentioned how it’s important to pay attention to others to gain confidence, to tell any ideas you may have if asked. Also, to watch others to know how to make small talk before a meeting begins.

As someone who is naturally shy and quiet around a crowd of people, this is something I need to develop more this year for going into placement.

The last two points my lecturer pointed out was to watch everyone around you to be aware of what and why they’re doing it. This makes sense because in a studio, works as a team is very important, so it’s good to know what part of the project your co-workers are working on to.

Lastly, the phrase get comfortable being uncomfortable is accurate as we will be going into a new environment not knowing very much. By the time we finish our placement, we will be a lot more confident with the experience we’ve gained going back into final year.
