It was interesting to hear about the different ideas that other people in my group had for their final projects. Before the seminar, I was deciding between two ideas and hoped that the discussion would help me choose which one to pursue.
Although, my lecturer mentioned that, for my first idea on endometriosis, I would need to identify a specific area that had not already been extensively researched. For my second idea, focusing on autism, I was made aware of the challenges involved in catering to the individual sensory needs of each person.
This helped me recognise that both ideas have their own challenges and that I need to consider which topic would be most suitable and achievable for my final project.
Following my group seminar, I decided to look more into my first idea on endometriosis but approach it from a different angle. I started by doing a quick competitor analysis to identify any gaps in the market and see what existing apps might be missing.

From completing a competitor research, most apps focus on physical symptoms, periods, fitness, food, and medical tracking. This give an opportunity around the emotional and psychological experience of living with endometriosis.
An endometriosis app that tracks not just what your body is experiencing, but how it is affecting your life.
The direction I am going to follow for my first idea is looking at emotional and psychological experience of living with this condition. Instead of focusing only on the physical symptoms of Endo.
I am going to explore how it affects a person's emotional wellbeing and everyday life. It would allow users to track their mood alongside pain levels, to help identify patterns between their physical and emotional experiences. It can help people to understand the impact it has on their mental wellbeing and how this affects their social life, relationships etc.
It would provide emotional support through personalised coping tools, self-reflection, helpful resources and guidance based on how the user is feeling.
