Before this lecture, I never thought how photography is utilised in design. Although, I used images in my projects last year, I didn’t really have any reasons for picking certain images. From now on, I’m going to think more about techniques such as the Golden Ratio and the Rule of Thirds and applying this type of photography more.
Many designers underestimate the value of photography in web design. It can help to set the mood of a design. It can be one of the most powerful tools when used correctly, to establish how a brand is expressed. I find in most business’s photography is extremely important to attract customers and draw them towards your brand.

When a business is taking photos for their business they must be careful and make sure the angles and lighting is photographed correctly. They will entice the consumer to buy the product, and hopefully retain them to the brand.
We looked at how photography in the food industry is especially important. The examples we had a look at were the “Neighbourhood Cafe” and the Waterman” restaurant situated in the Cathedral Quarter. I really like the simplicity and use of vibrant colours in their storefront, attracting customer’s eye.

The company that designed for these business’s, so it shows why the photographs are exceptional, as they obviously hired professional photographers to take them for them. The food is so aesthetically pleasing to the, which will attract the customer to visit.

Apple use photography to enhance their products, by showing the inside of the product, it draws the attention of people who are interested in seeing the inside of the product they are getting.
