The lecture gave me a clear understanding of the essential parts that make a presentation successful.
One thing that stood out to me was the importance of sticking to the allocated presentation time. I sometimes find this challenging, especially when you’re nervous makes it hard to recall what I need to say. A helpful strategy is to include time markers in the speaker notes, indicating the ideal time you should reach each slide. This way, as you move through the presentation, you can easily check if you’re on track.
Also, it highlighted the importance of using visuals. Now, I can see how tools like slides or graphics can make a presentation more engaging and easier to comprehend. This has inspired me to work on making my presentations more visually appealing and practical.
As well, a key point was how body language and voice can make a big difference. I learned that things like keeping eye contact, using gestures, and changing my tone and speed can help keep the audience interested. This has inspired me to pay more attention to these details in the future.
Lastly, it was noted that ending your presentation with a powerful quote (user research) can leave a lasting impression on the audience. It’s an effective way to conclude, as it encourages the audience to reflect on the topic might lead to reflective questions.
